The Lakefront House

A private lake, a rising moon, and nothing you have to do about any of it.
Lake and wildlife views from the backyard
6 guests 2 bedrooms 5 beds 1.5 baths Private lake

Some lakes have jet skis. This one has a blue heron. The house sits right on a quiet, motor-free private lake where the entertainment is sunrise over the water, eagles overhead, and the kind of fishing people drive hours for.

Inside it is all hardwood floors and granite counters, with brand-new Italian leather furniture, a full kitchen built for real cooking, and a jet tub waiting at the end of the day. Kayaks and the dock are yours to use, the firepit is ready at dusk, and when winter comes the lake trades kayaks for ice fishing and cross-country skis.

Minutes from UConn, Manchester, and Hebron, and an easy drive from Hartford, it works as well for a game-day weekend as it does for a week of doing absolutely nothing.

A truly private lake

Motor boats are not allowed here. Expect still water, loons and herons, and world-class fishing off the dock.

Kayaks and dock included

Paddle out after breakfast, weather permitting. The new dock is the best seat in the house for sunset.

Jet tub master bath

A large master bathroom with a jetted tub, plus a spacious primary suite with a desk and a lake view to work beside.

A kitchen built for cooking

Double oven, gas range, quiet dishwasher, rice cooker, crock pot. Bring groceries, not takeout menus.

Firepit evenings

A firepit and chimenea by the water, patio dining, and moonrises guests write home about.

Four real seasons

Summer swims and paddles become ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing when the lake freezes over.

"The views were simply unbelievable. The house was both clean and comfortable and there was a lot of detail to little things like making sure there were dishwasher pods and olive oil and salt available. We could not have been happier and wish we could have stayed longer."

Meet your host

Hosted like you are staying with a friend

Eight years of hosting shows up in the details guests keep mentioning in reviews: the dishwasher pods already in the drawer, the olive oil and salt in the pantry, the toddler essentials waiting when a family flies in light, the bedding swapped to suit the kids staying that week.

Marcie and Jeff answer within the hour, know both areas inside and out, and are the kind of hosts guests come back to season after season. Whether you want the still water of a private Connecticut lake or first chair at Mount Snow, you will be well taken care of.
